Abu-Ghazaleh Cambridge IT Skills Certificate Officially Recognized in Lebanon

AMMAN - A ceremony to honor the winners of the second competition of the Simulated IP Tribunal, the first competition of its kind in the Middle East at a university level, was held at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business (TAGCB) on Monday July 24, 2006.

The event, organized by the Arab Intellectual Property Mediation and Arbitration Society (AIPMAS) –a member of the Arab Society for Intellectual Property (ASIP) was held in cooperation with the Faculty of Law at the University of Jordan (UJ).

Mr. Talal Abu- Ghazaleh, Chairman and CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAGorg), Professor Labib Khadra , President of the German-Jordanian University.,  Professor Mohammad Eid Dirani, Vice-President for Humanities, Social Sciences, and Community Service at the University of Jordan, Professor Kamel ElSaid, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University, Judge Nehad Al Hosban, Representative of the Ministry of Justice attended the event.

Professor ElSaid congratulated the winners and said “This partnership enhances concept of cooperation between the public and private sectors."

He praised the Society's initiative to conduct this prestigious competition as the first of its kind in the Arab world and thanked Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh for his initiative to honor first-ranking students at the Faculty of Law.

On the other hand, ASIP’s Manager Mu'tasem Dmour stressed on the importance of this competition in increasing the students’ knowledge and awareness in the fields of law and Intellectual Property (IP).

“As part of our continuous efforts to enhance students’ knowledge in the field of business, law and Intellectual Property, ASIP has been organizing several training courses and workshops to cover these fields of specialization,” he pointed out.

“ASIP has recently launched the Arab Certified Intellectual Property Practitioner (ACIPP) program as well as Master’s program in the field of Intellectual Property (IP) in cooperation with TAGCB,” Dmour added.


At the end of the Ceremony, Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh presented trophies to members of  the Competition’s Executive and Coordinating Committees; these are: Professor Elsaid, Dr. Qais Ali Mahafzah, Dean’s Deputy, Judge Al Hosban, Dr. Basem Molham, Representative of the Faculty of Law, ,Nesreen Abu-Samaha , Representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Mr. Dmour.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed earlier in September 2004 between the Faculty of Law at the University of Jordan and the Arab Intellectual Property Mediation and Arbitration Society to organize the Simulated IP Tribunal competition on IP topics among law students at the Jordanian universities.
