Exclusive Agreement between TAGorg and Shenyang University for Establishing Confucius Institute

AMMAN --- May 18, 2008 --- An exclusive agreement was signed on May 15, 2008 between the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAGorg) and the Chinese governmental Shenyang University, for the establishment of the Confucius Institute in Amman.
The Institute will be dedicated to teaching the Chinese language and will be located at the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Academies building in the Jordanian capital.
The agreement was signed by University President, Professor Zhao Dayu, and Vice-Chair of TAGorg Mr. Luay Abu-Ghazaleh. The signing was attended by the Cultural Attaché at the Chinese Embassy in Amman Mr. Lai Wan Zhu and the Regional Executive Director of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Capacity Development Academy (TAGCDA) Mr. Salah Abu-Osbeh.
The Institute will offer Chinese language courses for non-native speakers, while hosting researchers and language instructors from China for this purpose, in addition to offering lectures and workshops for businesspeople and governmental sector representatives which aims to enhance cultural knowledge and exchange.
The agreement itself also seeks to promote awareness on contemporary China by offering scholarships to diligent (exceptional) students for pursuance of the Chinese language after completion of all necessary prerequisites in Jordan.
