Arab Society of Certified Accountants Recognised by Tunisia

23 Nov 1984
The accountancy profession in the Arab world was uniquely honored last week when President Habib Bourguiba received in audience the Chairman (Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh) and Board of the Arab Society of Certified Accountants and entertained them to lunch, following the recognition of the Society by the Tunisian government.
Directors of the Board thus honored included members of the international accounting firms Arthur Andersen, Deloittes Haskins and Sells, DFK, Grant-Thornton, Howarth and Howarth, KMG and Peat Marwick Mitchell.
The Board has been holding one of its regular meetings in Arab capitals. It noted with satisfaction the progress made towards reaching an agreement with the (UK) Association Certified Accountants on a joint examination scheme.
The Arab Society has now opened a permanent office in the West End of London, which will be the venue for its next Board meeting on 10 January 1985.

The Society will be launching its first major professional activity with an International Convention in TunisiaonJuly 1985. The International Federation of Accountants, whose President, Mr. Washington SYPIC was the Society's honored guest last week, has been invited to co-sponsor this major professional event.
