ASIP Discusses Steps to Grant IP Certificate
29 Apr 2003Under the patronage of the Minister of Culture in the Republic of Lebanon Mr. Ghazi Alaridi, yesterday the Arab Society for Intellectual Property (ASIP) convened its annual meeting in Beirut under the chairmanship of ASIP Chairman Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh.
An action plan for achievements expected during 2003-2005 was discussed and adopted. Additionally, a discussion took place on financial and administrative reports, and on starting the execution of the ambitious Arab Certified Intellectual Property Practitioner Program (ACIPP). As such, a mechanism was decided upon for the training phases and sitting for the exam, as the society had previously translated to Arabic the academic curriculum in collaboration and agreement with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The resulting certificate from the ACIPP is the first qualification of its kind in the Arab region, as it will enhance the quality and quantity of the experts working and specialized in the intellectual property (IP) field.
Also discussed was the pioneering project that the society started, which is compiling the rulings and decisions of Arab courts in cases related to IP, issuing these in one volume and placing these on ASIP’s website.
