UNICTTF ARN and the Union of Arab ICT Associations (IJMA3) launch

In collaboration with IJMA3’s Lebanon representative Mr. Jalal Fawaz (and president of PCA), Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, in his capacity as chairman of the Arab Regional Network of the United Nations Information Communication Technologies Task Force (UNICT TF ARN), accepted to sponsor the launch of the Union of Arab ICT Associations (IJMA3). This announcement came in conjunction with the Dictionary signing event of Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property held Friday, December 10, 2004, at the Biel-Arab Book Fair, under the Patronage of H.E. Adnan Qassar, Minister of Economy and Commerce.

IJMA3 is an independent national union of Arabic organizations with the mission of providing support and innovative approaches to ICT solutions in the Arab world through collaboration with all ICT related organizations within the private sector.

Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh will lend his regional and international stature and provide region-specific support and strengths to help bridge the digital divide, addressing the underlying global policy issues seizing and building digital opportunities for developing countries.

It was further announced that the Arab Knowledge and Management Society (AKMS) has joined the Union as well. AKMS ‘s mission statement is to build an “Arab Knowledge Society” which teaches and learns, communicates, innovates, makes wealth, governs, trades, sets up rules and advances in all walks of life through the use of digital technology. It is a society with a digital nerve system, which provides unlimited potentials for knowledge management towards further progress and to create knowledge.
