AGIP to Establish GIs Database in Yemen

SANA’A - The Yemeni Ministry of Industry and Commerce (YMIC) has recently assigned Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) to establish a database of all geographical indications (GIs) in Yemen, which will be the first achievement of its kind in the Arab region.
AGIP will also provide the concerned authorities in Yemen with technical and legal assistance to draft a modernized law for GIs in the country.
This assignment came two days following the conclusion of the First Geographical Indications Symposium in the Arab region, which was held in Abu Dhabi, April 12-13.
Creating a database of all GIs in every Arab country was one of the recommendations highlighted by the Chairman of AGIP, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh.
