ASIP Launches the Arab Center for Mediation & Arbitration in IP Today

11 Jun 2005
AMMAN - The Arab Society for Intellectual Property (ASIP) will launch the Arab Center for Mediation and Arbitration in Intellectual Property, under the patronage of the Jordanian Prime Minister, Dr. Adnan Badran, on Saturday at Le Royal Hotel in Amman.
Deputizing for the Premier, Minister of Industry and Trade, Sharif Al Zu'bi, will attend the event along with hundreds of government officials, senior academics, and IP experts.
ASIP Chairman Talal Abu-Ghazaleh will announce the launching of the center, which will be in charge of solving IP disputes through mediation and arbitration to reach amicable conciliation between the disputed parties.
On the sideline of the event, Abu-Ghazaleh and President of the University of Jordan (UJ), Abdelrahim A. Hunaiti, will sign the Arab Certified Intellectual Property Practitioner (ACIPP) Agreement, which will be effective from the date of its signing.
ACIPP is a professional Arabic program offering advanced teaching and training for Arab practitioners. It aims at providing an easier understanding of modern principles that govern IP, as well as access to knowledge and international developments, so that the practitioner may be able to provide his/her services in line with international standards.
Moreover, Abu-Ghazaleh will present awards to winners who took part in the IP Moot Court Contest, which was concluded last May.
The contest is one of the pioneering initiatives to be organized in the Arab region targeting law students and aiming at providing them with practical experience on the process of litigation in the field of IP.
The contest is a joint venture organized by ASIPMA and the Faculty of Law at UJ.
