Human Resources Experts from around the World Will Meet in Bahrain for the Third International Training, Management and Human Resources Development Conference
27 Aug 2005Human resources experts from around the world will meet in Bahrain for the Third International Training, Management and Human Resources Development Conference and Exhibition (HRD 2005) in December.
Organizers met last weekend and are finalizing the list of at least 20 HR and management resource experts, authors, and trainers from various countries.
The HRD 2005 aims to provide a venue for businesses in the region to benefit from the increasing number of training and development programs around the world to position themselves as global companies.
The event will be held under the patronage of the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Dr Abdulhussein Ali Mirza.
"Businesses in the region are lagging behind global companies because they have failed to invest in training and development programs. Human capital is the most important and valuable asset for any organization," HRD 2005 chairman Saeed Omar said. "It goes far beyond equipment and technology. If you have the right people, you will have a successful organization," he said.
"Unfortunately the majority of organizations in the public sector look at career development and apprenticeship programs as an expense and not as an investment. Because of this problem this part of the world will always be a few steps behind. It's sad but it's a reality."
Omar, who is also CTM Event Management general manager, said that succession plans, including apprenticeship schemes, were important for the long-term stability of an organization.
He said that these topics would be tackled by more than 350 people expected to attend the event under the theme 'Measuring Organizational Success through Human Capital.'
The topics include, HRD and human resource management practices, team-building and motivation, career development, assessment and succession plans, identifying future leaders and talents, global challenges and competition and its impact on organizational success and human resource progress, apprenticeship, coaching and HRD success stories.
The conference will be held from December 12 to 14 at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre (BIEC).
"We will have four to five experts who will focus on a particular area of HRD," Omar said.
The conference will feature talks by more than 20 training, management and HRD experts and practitioners from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Pakistan, Malaysia, Australia, Ireland, the UK, France, Germany, South Africa, the US and Canada.
The keynote speakers include Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization, Jordan; GPIC general manager Abdulrahman Jawahery; Accor Middle East, France corporate director Dr. Denis Sorin; and Ohio State University Workforce Development and Education professor and Center on Education and Training for Employment interim director Prof. Ronald Jacobs.
There will also be interactive panel discussions and dinner talks, as well as interactive learning and training workshops prior to the event.
The interactive pre-workshops will be facilitated by Biz Ability managing partner Hazel Jackson.
There will also be business and professional visits to Bahrain Airport Services, GPIC and Asry.
The exhibition will be held by more than 50 national, regional and international specialized exhibitors. The conference and workshops will be conducted in English. The event aims at junior, middle and senior executives, as well as business owners, and human resources and performance consultants.
