AGIP to Discuss IPRs Enforcement During Jordan Customs Department Workshop
10 Oct 2005AMMAN - Jordan Customs Department in cooperation with Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) will organize a workshop on “Intellectual Property (IP)” October 11, 2005 at the Department’s headquarters in Amman.
AGIP's consultants Sakher Al Khasawneh and Ala' Musleh will provide the attendees with detailed information concerning Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) with a special focus on trademarks and the mechanism to detect fake products bearing infringing marks.
“In this workshop, the participants would be mainly heads of sections at the Customs Department. Each of them is required to prepare a paper on the role of his section in the enforcement of IPRs,” Al Khasawneh told ag-IP-news Agency.
“After the presentation of each section, we will discuss the role of the sections in protecting intellectual property and how they may enhance their efforts for more and more effective results,” he added.
The main sections which participate in this meeting are: the Risk Management Directorate, the Legal Affairs Directorate, the Transit Directorate, and the Cases Directorate.
This workshop is the fourth in a series of seminars that targets customs employees, three other seminars were held last September.
The training seminars and workshops reinforce the significance of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which was signed by the Customs Department and AGIP on July 18, 2005, aimed at increasing cooperation between the two parties and enhancing their efforts in protecting IPRs.
