02 Nov 2005
AMMAN- Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) on Wednesday has signed the International Trademark Association (INTA) Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Program Pledge, according to a press release by AGIP.
According to INTA, law firms and brand owners that, once sign the pledge, have a commitment to resolve disputes outside traditional litigation channels.
AGIP is now committed to spread the knowledge of mediation within its organization, keep its personnel abreast of the role of mediation in dispute resolution and the most advanced mediation techniques, and regularly train for mediation.
"Our intellectual property lawyers will gain the knowledge about ADR and, in particular, to become familiar with the INTA Panel of Neutrals as well as with the applicable INTA mediation guidelines and mediation rules," said Charles Sha'ban, Executive Director of AGIP's Regional Office.
He added that the pledge also commits us to have our attorney discuss with the client the availability of ADR procedures so that the client can make an informed choice concerning resolution of the dispute.
To date, Arent Fox PLLC, Bermeo & Bermeo, Braykov's Legal Office, British American Tobacco, Chadbourne & Parke LLP, Mueller Schupfner, Shearn Delamore & Co. and Vukmir & Associates have signed the pledge.
