MUSCAT - H.E. Mohammed Bin Nasser Al Khusaibi, Secretary-General at the Ministry of National Economy, here on Saturday presided over the opening of a seminar titled ‘Joining WTO: Opportunities and challenges facing joint stock companies,’
The seminar is organised by the Capital Market Authority (CMA) in cooperation with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh group.
Al Khusaibi said the seminar’s objective is to update joint stock companies of the local and international issues in the light of the Sultanate joining the WTO and to pinpoint the opportunities and challenges facing those companies.

H.E. Yahya Bin Said Al Jabri, Executive President of the CMA, said the Sultanate has adopted the free economy principle which depends on private sector initiatives to assist the government in pushing the economy forward and achieving development.

Officials and employees of joint stock companies listed at the MSM are participating in the seminar.

The seminar discusses requirements under the WTO rules, particularly in the aftermath of the Hong Kong meeting held in December, and other pertinent topics.
