Touqan Opens Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business

AMMAN – On behalf of the Prime Minister yesterday, the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Khaled Touqan, sponsored the opening ceremony of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business (TAGCB), a major college at the German-Jordanian University (GJU).
 
During a ceremony speech, Touqan said that this college is considered a true partnership between the private and public sectors, which embodies the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah the Second in modernizing the education and learning process, and ensuring a high quality of education at various levels throughout the Kingdom.
 
He added that higher education in Jordan during the past couple of decades has undergone major changes, challenges and developments, under the direction of His Majesty King Abdullah the Second. These developments call for a revision of the higher education system and bringing it up to speed with international standards.
 
He pointed out that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is enacting a series of reforms and revisions to advance the level of education, and choose specializations that grant solutions to students in relation to joining the job market.
 
GJU President Labib Alkhadra stated that the college, with all the advanced equipment and facilities it has, qualifies it to become the largest center for training for all vocations and in particular those related to accounting qualification, intellectual property and computer usage skills. The college will also cooperate with the Arab Society of Certified Accountants (ASCA) in accounting related areas, according to Alkhadra. 
 
The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Jordan, Dr. Klaus Burkhardt, praised the cooperative relations that exist between Jordan and Germany in various areas, particularly in the educational field, saying that the GJU is the greatest example of this cooperation. 
 
The Chairman of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAGorg), Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, delivered a speech in which he talked about the significant role the college will play in qualifying students and supplying them with the skills and expertise needed to enter the workforce.
He said that it is not only a Jordanian college, but an international one with its location in Jordan, that offers all sorts of training and qualification at all levels. He also stated that branches will be established in the near future in various Arab countries, and a set of programs and courses will be held through a collaborative effort, that will lead to students obtaining a set of professional and academic skills.
 

The opening ceremony was attended by a number of Arab and foreign ambassadors, and numerous officials in the educational and business sectors from Jordan and other Arab countries.
