Regulating the Use of Internet and E-Publications Inaugurated in Kuwait

KUWAIT - The “Regulating the Use of Internet and E-Publications" Forum, held under the patronage of the Kuwaiti Minister of Information Dr. Anas Al-Rushaid, was inaugurated on Saturday with the participation of representatives from the public and private sectors mainly the IT departments at the Kuwaiti ministries.
The aim of this 3-day forum is to formalize a national policy for the use of Internet in Kuwait by discussing several topics from technical, legislative, media, educational, and awareness aspects. In addition, the attendees will discuss issues of confidentiality, data security, privacy, intellectual property rights, consumer rights and internet content.
Official sources told ag-IP-news Agency that the recommendations of the forum are expected to help Kuwaitis prepare the needed policies and laws to regulate the Internet.
Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) Regional Office Executive Director Charles Sha’ban is a key speaker at the “IP on the Internet” session said that the Forum is an excellent opportunity to solve many issues.
“Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), IPRs & Domain Names (including IDNs), IPRs & Website Contents, International Organizations and Treaties, Domain Names Study Cases, Precautions and Internet Governance - WSIS/WGIG/IGF,” Sha’ban stated.
The Forum's higher organizing committee is headed by Information Under-secretary Sheikh Faisal Al-Malik Al-Sabah.
