ASIP and AIPMAS Annual Board Meeting Concludes at TAGCB

AMMAN - The Arab Society for Intellectual Property (ASIP) and the Arab Intellectual Property Mediation and Arbitration Society (AIPMAS) concluded their Annual Board Meeting on Thursday at the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business (TAGCB)/ German-Jordanian University (GJU).
 
Speaking at the meeting, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, CEO and Chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAGorg) highlighted the effort and work of ASIP.
 
"ASIP has made an outstanding progress internationally this year through its cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)," Abu-Ghazaleh said.
 
 “ASIP's effort in issuing the WIPO Handbook in Arabic is really something we all should be proud of," he added.
 
Abu-Ghazaleh pointed out that this handbook will set the benchmark in the field of Intellectual Property in the Arab world.
 
 “This Handbook will be used as part of the Intellectual Property Masters program which is offered at TAGCB/GJU,” he said.
 
Moreover, Mu’tasem Dmour, ASIP Manager and the Secretary Board said that the Arabic version of WIPO Handbook will also be part of the Arab Certified Intellectual Property Practitioner Program (ACIPP).
 
“The curriculum consists of four papers in the following fields: copyright, trademarks, industrial designs and patents, and anyone who passes one of these papers will be granted the Practitioner title in the field of specialization he/she chooses,” he said.
 
During the course of the event, Board Members discussed the second Geographical Indications Symposium to be held in Aqaba next year in collaboration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Association of European Trademark Owners (MARQUES).
 
"We look forward to expanding our public relations with various governmental and educational entities in the Arab world in the field of IP development," Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh stated.
 
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh pledged his continuous support for ASIP future activities.
