Promotional Campaign for “Special Aqaba” in Bahrain Next Month

29 Oct 2006
A Jordanian delegation representing the special Aqaba zone from both the public and private sectors, in addition to owners of major business projects will visit Bahrain during November 11-14, in order to introduce the investment environment in the region. The visit will be coordinated with the Bahraini Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

During the campaign of “Let’s turn the sand into gold”, investors in Bahrain will be shown what investment opportunities are available in Aqaba, and the accomplishments that took place during the past 5 years.

The delegation will be headed by Nader Alzahabi, President of the Council of Negotiators for the authority of the special Aqaba economic zone. The delegation will include Saleh Kailani, Negotiator for Affairs of Economic Growth and Investment, and a number of business owners of large investment projects in the special Aqaba economic zone.

Alzahabi will talk about the investment atmosphere in the special Aqaba economic zone, and all it has to offer as far as incentives and privileges are concerned, for Bahraini businesspeople and investors. He also will be discussing the achievements fulfilled in the zone since the authority was established in 2001, and which represents the first model for non-centrality in Jordan.

Alzahabi will speak about the volume of investments that the authority of the special Aqaba economic zone has attracted from various Arab and foreign countries in the fields of real estate development, transportation, tourism development and light and medium-sized industries. He will also highlight the incentives offered to investors and how they are supported.

This visit comes as part of the authority’s promotional plan that included other countries such as Qatar and Kuwait, and had noticeable success translating into visits by numerous investors to the region for investing opportunities.

Additionally, large investment project owners will share their investing experiences and stories of success in Aqaba. They will also highlight their investment projects in Aqaba in particular and Jordan in general. These include the House of Gulf Financing, the Global Investment House and the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization.
