Continuing for the Second Day: The Arab Strategic Forum Discusses the Dangers of Investing Abroad
06 Dec 2006DUBAI – The Arab Strategic Forum being convened in Dubai currently is in its second day of activities as a session entitled “Partnership between the governmental and private sectors” discussed the dangers facing the Arab world in relation to the tendency to invest abroad, the opportunities resulting from this tendency and the ability to enhance investing cooperation among Arab governments.
Mr. Ali Larijani, the Secretary-General of the National Security Council of Iran, renewed his country’s determination to move forward in its peaceful nuclear program. He said that international pressure will not dissuade Iran from possessing modern technology that enables it to exercise its capabilities. At the same time, he called upon the Islamic world to work towards formulating a cohesive strategy through which Muslims can face the challenges they’re confronted with these days.
In a session entitled “Points of Transformation in Arab Society”, speakers talked about current events and other changes, being witnessed by the Middle East which might take the region to an unprecedented status.
Also, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President of the UAE, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, awarded the winners of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Arab Management Award for the year 2005, at a ceremony held amongst the events of the 2006 Arab Strategic Forum. The ceremony was attended by high-level Arab and international officials, governmental officials, businesspeople and intellectuals.
Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International (TAGI) delivered a speech at the ceremony in which he praised the award and those who organize its related , due to the efforts they exert in developing managerial performance of Arab institutions. He said that by honoring this elite group of people who’ve fulfilled these administrative achievements, all forms of Arab creativity are being honored.
