AGIP Launches Search for Published Trademarks in Oman
17 Dec 2006AMMAN - After being successfully launched in the United Arab Emirates and Yemen, Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) has introduced the Search for Published Trademarks (Internal Search) service in the Sultanate of Oman December 7, 2006, a press release by AGIP stated.
Through its Intellectual Property Published Registrations (IPPR) Data Center, AGIP will be conducting a comprehensive search for trademarks published in the Official Gazettes in Oman in order to provide clients with a full detailed search report indicating any similar or matching marks within less than 24 hours.
"It is crucial for clients to check the availability of the trademark against potentially conflicting earlier trademark rights owned by third parties, before filing an application in Oman," Manager of the IPPR Data Center Mohannad Ismail said.
The IPPR Data Center conducts search for similar trademarks, providing the most important details of trademarks including words and devices/logos.
"In the word search, variant spellings, phonetic equivalents, homonyms, synonyms and marks with the same prefix, suffix are checked, while the device search is designed to locate identical or similar devices, graphics or logos," he added.
AGIP's charges for the Search for Published Trademarks in Oman in one class are $50 and for any additional class $40.
