AGIP Inaugurates Mumbai Office
17 Jul 2007MUMBAI - As part of its global expansion strategy and with the aim of meeting the growing expectations of its clients, Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) announced in a Tuesday press release the opening of its office in Mumbai, the second in India after New Delhi office.
The Mumbai office was inaugurated by Jordan Ambassador to India Mohammed Ali Daher Nsour with the attendance of a number of Indian and Arab IP attorneys and experts as well as businessmen in a ceremony held on July 13, 2007.
Commenting on this key achievement, Nsour said, “The opening of Mumbai Office is another indication of AGIP’s growth and expansion across Asia.”
“After New Delhi, AGIP now is in Mumbai to serve the increasing needs of domestic and international clients in the IP field in India,” he added.
Meanwhile, AGIP India Office Manager Khalid Al-Khalidi said, “Due to the latest developments in the IP field and the Indian government’s keenness to modernize the IP infrastructure, the need has become more acute to open another branch in India.”
“Computerization, simplification of procedures, integration of information technology, human resources’ development, as well as efficiency and transparency were all incorporated in the Mumbai office,” he added.
Strategically located in Nariman Point which is the hub of Mumbai’s landmark business center, the office places AGIP near the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, the Mumbai High Court and the World Trade Center, allowing AGIP’s practitioners and attorneys to closely interact with the representatives of the above offices and attentively following up on several issues such as the protection and litigation of clients’ Intellectual Property Rights.
AGIP Mumbai Office offers a broad range of IP services including, trademarks, patents, industrial designs, copyrights and domain names registration, counseling, prosecution, licensing and litigation. AGIP will also represent clients on IP issues related to international trade, portfolio management, Internet, e-commerce, government contracts and unfair competition.
The office incorporates a highly experienced team of IP professionals and practitioners who can meet the IP portfolio management needs for all clients. In addition, the office is equipped with skilled litigators, consultants and appellate advocates who can provide a full spectrum of legal services related to IP.
According to Al-Khalidi, the office is expected to hire more than 50 lawyers, trademark and patent attorneys and professionals within the first year.
