.ASIA World Tour Reaches Jordan

AMMAN - Within their tour to reach out to the community about .Asia Sunrise period, DotAsia CEO Edmond Chung and Director of Registrar and Community Relations Leona Chen delivered on Sunday a presentation concerning the launch of the domain at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business/German University (TAGCB/GJU).
In his presentation entitled “Understanding the .ASIA Domain Launch”, Chung tackled several issues related to the Sunrise period; its phases and application process, Charter Eligibility Requirements, Charter Eligibility Declaration (CED) Requirements in addition to the vision and mission of DotAsia.
Moreover, he revealed that the processing of .Asia Sunrise applications is conducted online.
“The aim of the tour is to familiarize the public with the Sunrise Policy and its role in providing the required protection for brand owners. The official launch will be carried out on October 9, 2007,” Chung told ag-IP-news Agency.
“DotAsia provides a value for brands all over the world expanding from Asia and out of Asia and it is also considered a platform to speak from and for .Asia,” he added.
Within their tour, DotAsia’s team visited San Francisco, China, Korea, Vancouver, Toronto, New Delhi, New York, London, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Brussels, Munich and Paris.
Chung noted that their next stop will be Melbourne on September 20, 2007, and Tokyo September 24-25, 2007.
“DotAsia signed an agreement with Deloitte and Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) as verification agents in order to ensure the expansion of .ASIA internationally and regionally,” Chung noted.
According to Chung, surplus proceeds of DotAsia will be invested in digital education, research and development (R&D), in addition to other development projects.
The Sunrise process is divided into three main phases: Sunrise 1 provides priority for governments in the community to reserve and register domains; Sunrise 2 allows registered mark owners to obtain domains corresponding to the marks they own; and Sunrise 3 allows registered companies, organizations and other entities in the DotAsia community to obtain domains corresponding to their entity name.
DotAsia Organization is the Sponsoring Organization and Registry Operator for the .ASIA Sponsored Generic Top-Level Domain. DotAsia is a not-for-profit, community-based organization incorporated in Hong Kong.
