3rd Conference on Technology Commercialization to be Held in Jordan

AMMAN - The 3rd Conference on Technology Commercialization “Valuing Your IP: What is It Worth?” organized by Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, will be held October 31-November 1, 2007 at the Friendship Auditorium, Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) in Amman.
 
The Conference, part of the 13th Jordan Scientific Week (Oct 28th – Nov 3rd, 2007), will revolve around subjects in the domain of Intellectual Property (IP) valuation. The Conference will shed light on the different approaches and theories of valuations as well as presenting case studies within different disciplines.
 
The overall objective of the conference is to educate the audience about the importance of IP valuation and what business ideas are really worth pursuing. Moreover, it is aimed at raising the awareness of the policy makers to the topic and facilitates a positive change within.
 
The Conference will host local and international specialists from Jordan, USA, Germany and KSA. Well-reputable companies and institutions will attend the venue such as Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAGorg), the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), Motorola, among others.
 
This event will be held under the patronage of HRH Princess Sumaya Bint El Hassan and sponsored by the National Fund for Enterprise Support (NAFES).
 
Papers of the first day of the Conference will concentrate on general and basic concepts in IP valuation such as: the importance of IP valuation and methods of valuation. The second day will focus on some practical issues in IP valuation such as: building a successful IP commercialization strategy, valuation of innovative technologies, winning IP negotiations, and valuing brand equity in the Arab region.
 
Moreover, the Conference presents a special paper that underscores a novel approach in innovation management by introducing new innovation audit software.
 
Two panels will be conducted: the first entitled “local & international case studies” which will carry different experiences of companies who have gone through the valuation process for their Intellectual Property.
 
The second panel entitled “How IP Policies help R&D in Academia” will tackle the current IP environment in the national academic institutions from an R&D perspective and the beneficial role of stronger IP policies and legislations.
