HE Senator Abu-Ghazaleh Calls for a Conference for Decision Makers to Address Regional Food Problems

We, in the Arab world, have a serious food and economic situation and this program tries to solve these problems through organizing several focused workshops and conferences and I would like to request a regional conference for the decision makers to pinpoint the problems and solutions - HE Senator Abu-Ghazaleh

AMMAN--------January 30, 2011----------HE Senator Talal Abu-Ghazaleh stressed on the fact that the Arab world has a serious food and economic situation and requested a regional conference for the decision makers to pinpoint the problems and solutions.

Speaking at the regional workshop which was held under his patronage at the Landmark Hotel in Amman under the title "Basic Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)," the Senator said: We, in the Arab world, have a serious food and economic situation and this program tries to solve these problems through organizing several focused workshops and conferences."

The workshop, part of a series of activities included in the Action Plan for the CaMaRI Program, was attended by 46 professionals representing Jordan, Syria, Palestine, Lebanon and Yemen and aimed at building the capacity of participants in the field of institutional organizational development to increase their effectiveness in supporting and guiding rural development projects sponsored by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in those countries.

HE Senator Abu-Ghazaleh said: "I would like to call for a regional conference for the decision makers to pinpoint the problems and the solutions."

"It is a national duty to look into the problems and find solutions through our positive role as we don’t want to face such hard times again," he added. HE Senator Abu-Ghazaleh Calls for a Conference for Decision Makers to Address Regional Food Problems

On his part, Dr. Bruno Schuler, senior project manager, Rural Development and Food of GIZ pointed out that the role of HE Senator Abu-Ghazaleh has a huge impact on the program and its implementation.

"We thank Senator Abu-Ghazaleh and TAG-Org for their continuous support for this program and its objectives and we hope to continue working on similar events in the near future," he said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ghaleb Tuffaha, chief executive director general of CARDNE expressed his satisfaction with the way these workshops are being conducted saying: "These workshops are considered very effective tool to implement the objectives of the program and find solutions to major problems in the Arab world."

The January 8-19 workshop was organized by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), the Capacity Building in Managing for Results and Impact (CaMaRI), the Regional Center on Agraian Reform and Rural Development for the Near East (CARDNE) and GIZ Capacity Building International, Germany in addition to the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
