Arab Knowledge and Management Society Holds Its Annual Meeting

Dr. Abu Ghazaleh: Introduction of knowledge management programs,
new certificates and establishment of centers at the universities
AMMAN ---- May 19, 2014 ----- The Arab Knowledge and Management Society (AKMS) held its Board of Directors and General Assembly’s annual meeting at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University (TAGI-UNI). The meeting was attended by Fahd Batayneh, Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator of the Middle East as the representative of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
At the beginning of the meeting, HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of the Board, welcomed the members and thanked them for their efforts, participation, discussion and follow up on programs and plans. The attendees discussed the agenda topics, the auditor's report, approved the final accounts for the year ended 31/12/2013, and approved the balance sheet for the financial year 2014. AKMS Chairman offered financial support to enable AKMS management to implement the next stage plans and programs.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh asked AKMS management to introduce and promote professional programs in the realm of knowledge management and to establish center at the universities to implement such programs. A proposal was made to establish new certificates such as Human Resources Auditing Certificate and Certified Development Trainer to be added to the currently granted certificates, namely; Arab Certified Quality Manager Program (ACQM), Advanced Certificate in Leadership, and International Standardized Testing Organization (ISTO) examination.
It was decided in the meeting to obtain the said professional certificates for AKMS membership.
The attendees highlighted the success of AKMS experience in Tamkeen Project in the Kingdom of Bahrain, training and qualifying groups of Bahraini youth, and granting those who pass exams certificates approved by the British International Institute for Leadership and Management. They also called for generalizing this experience in other countries.
It was approved in the meeting to launch individual excellence project and grant incentive awards for knowledge pioneers. The meeting also stressed on the importance and need to enhance communication with specialized international institutions to launch professional programs and to circulate AKMS report to knowledge-related bodies.
AKMS Manager Mr. Salem Al Ouri briefed the attendees on the future activities and projects where he explained that a study is being conducted for an electronic testing system for the specialized ACQM certificate and exams for the professional programs which the Society is trying to have them accredited by the Institute for Leadership and Management. Al Ouri also stated that AKMS seeks to expand its services to cover other Arab countries, including the Arab Maghreb countries.
It is worth mentioning that AKMS is a non-profit international institution. It aims to motivate and develop Arab human and institutional potentials to reach an Arab knowledge-based society. It also aims to create a knowledge society that uses modern management and techniques to develop Arab capabilities. It also aims at promoting research and development in the fields of knowledge and management and to keep its members updated with the recent developments through training courses and programs, forums, conferences and other activities.
