ISTANBUL------December 26, 2010-------- Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) Turkey Office and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Legal (TAGLegal Turkey) attended a seminar entitled “Madrid System for the International Registration of Trademarks” organized by the Turkish Patent Institute (TPI) in cooperation with World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).AGIP and TAGLegal Turkey Attend 'Madrid System for the International Registration of Trademarks' Seminar

The event held at the Turkish Patent Institute Conference Hall tackled the basic features of the system, the principles to be followed in filing an international application, Turkish Patent Institute Madrid practices, international application, examination and registration, transfer, limitation, cancellation and waiver subjects in terms of Madrid Protocol.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Habip Asan, director of Turkish Patent Institute presented recent activities intended to strengthen and develop the industrial property system. He commented that the present event held in cooperation with WIPO is of great importance in terms of trademarks which are one of the most important elements of the industrial property system of Turkey.

He stated, “Madrid System for the International Registration of Trademarks” provides the firms which operate worldwide and market their products in more than one country with conveniences and significant time and cost advantages."

The seminar which was organized for applicants and brand representatives witnessed the participation of TPI employees and representatives from private sector as well as AGIP Turkey and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Legal (TAGLegal) Office
