TAGBU's Khan Nominated as a Fellow of Education Impact

MANAMA------December 23, 2010-------Dr. Abdul Waheed Khan, president of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Business University (TAGBU) has been nominated as a Fellow of Education Impact. Education Impact is a global fellowship of the world’s leading experts on the effective use of information and communication technology to transform teaching, learning and institutional administration.
Dr. Khan joined Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Business University in August 2010. Prior to joining TAGBU, Dr. Khan served as Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for a decade.
In this capacity, Dr. Khan was responsible for leading UNESCO’s program on “Building Inclusive Knowledge Societies”, the primary focus of which was to harness the potential of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to enhance access to quality education, facilitate acquisition of scientific knowledge and promote cultural and linguistic diversity. Fostering digital opportunities for social and economic inclusion through public-private partnerships was also a key component of this program.
Dr. Khan has extensive experience of managing educational institutions including the position of Vice Chancellor (President and CEO) of the Indira Gandhi National Open University, India, which with over 3.4 million students is one of the largest universities in the world providing access to quality education.
TAGBU is the brain child of HE Senator Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman and CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org). A world class business university, TAGBU, aims to provide the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab world with qualified business leaders through a unique blend of modern academic and professional programs with a view to propelling the Arab world unto a knowledge-based economy.
TAGBU will open its doors in September 2011 to a select group of students for bachelor and master degrees in Business Administration. The students will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of specializations such as International Accounting, Banking and Finance, Human Resources, Management, Marketing and Quality Management.
