Abu-Ghazaleh Speaks at the Corporate Governance Conference in Bahrain

Held under the title "The Role of Corporate Governance in Enhancing Organizational Growth and Sustainability", Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh praised the efforts exerted in preparing the Bahraini corporate governance system

MANAMA----- November 5, 2010---------- Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) tackled on November 2, 2010 the Bahraini governance system at the Corporate Governance Conference organized by Bahrain Accountants Association and Origin Group.

Held under the title "The Role of Corporate Governance in Enhancing Organizational Growth and Sustainability", Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh emphasized the need to have the governance reports audited by an auditor or an official independent body due to the fact that self reports from the management are not sufficient.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh also suggested that an annex be drafted and attached with the system addressing family enterprises as they are the pillar of the Bahraini economy which will support its sustainability after the third generation.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh added that it is imperative to address deficiency and weakness in the international accounting standards which was considered one of the causes of the global financial crisis.

At the end, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh praised the efforts exerted in preparing the Bahraini corporate governance system and the involved team of experts, considering it a good start for development in terms of inclusiveness, content and measurement.

Such system, he added, shall be applicable to all institutions, further focus on moral content and also develop measurement standards as what cannot be measured cannot be managed.
