09 Sep 2007AMMAN --- September 6, 2007 --- Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP), the leading IP firm in the Middle East, and DotAsia, the Sponsoring Organization and Registry Operator for the .ASIA Sponsored Generic Top-Level Domain, will be holding a seminar on the new .ASIA domain at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business on September 16, 2007.
In his presentation, ‘Understanding the .ASIA Domain Launch’, Edmon Chung, DotAsia CEO, will discuss in details the process of launching the .ASIA domain due on October 9, 2007, with a focus on the .ASIA Sunrise policies which are intended to provide an equitable, orderly, transparent and logical process for launching the domain.
The Sunrise process is divided into three main phases: Sunrise 1 provides priority for governments in the community to reserve and register domains; Sunrise 2 allows registered mark owners to obtain domains corresponding to the marks they own; and Sunrise 3 allows registered companies, organizations and other entities in the DotAsia community to obtain domains corresponding to their entity names.
“Trademark owners, country code Top-Level Domain (ccTLD) managers, in addition to domain name registrars from the region are strongly recommended to attend this seminar,” Assistant Executive Director of AGIP, Bilal Beiram, said.
Beiram added that this seminar is part of DotAsia’s Sunrise World Tour which aims to familiarize all the concerned parties with the process of launching .ASIA domain including Sunrise policies’ development, target launch schedule and any challenges that might be encountered.
