TAG-Confucius Institute students make a remarkable performance and achieve high positions

AMMAN ----May 23, 2010---- The final and decisive round of the Great Wall – Petra competition in Chinese language was concluded on May 15, 2010 at the Chinese Embassy in Amman.Great Wall- Petra Competition in Chinese Language Concludes

Ten students from TAG-Confucius institute, the Language Institute of Jordan University, the Language Institute of the Jordanian Armed Forced, in additional to one participant from the Chinese Embassy competed for the first position after excelling in the first and second rounds, which were conducted at TAG-Confucius Institute last month.

The final stage consisted of three parts; in the first part competitors made a speech in Chinese language to show their fluency and ability to command the language, and then each student was given a number of Chinese words and expressions, and was asked to read those words and use them in one statement, and finally students showed their skills in one side of the Chinese culture.

In this part, students competed in singing Chinese songs, making Chinese calligraphy art, in addition to Chinese traditional poetry; their performance impressed the audience and the judging committee. Great Wall- Petra Competition in Chinese Language Concludes

His Excellency Yu Hong Yang, the Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, said "I am really impressed by the abilities of all students and their language skills, despite the short period of learning."

The Ambassador also tackled the special partnership with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) through TAG-Confucius Institute, and the speed by which the number of Chinese language students is growing.

Ahmed al Ju'aidi from the Chinese Embassy won the first place followed by TAG-Confucius students Mou'men Gola and Firas Atieh who settled for the second and third places respectively.
