TAG-Org and CCIA-BML Sign Cooperation Agreement

BEIRUT-----September 11, 2013------Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon (CCIA-BML) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Four Seasons Hotel in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
 
Highlighting the significance of this Memorandum, a press conference was held following the signing of the MoU by HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of TAG-Org and Mr. Mohamed Choucair, President of the Federation of Lebanese Chambers and Chairman of CCIA-BML, and the attendance of MP Jean Ogassapian and CCIA-BML vice chairmen Mr. Mohammed Lama', Mr. Ghabi Tamer and Dr. Nabil Fahed in addition to Rafik Zantout ,President of the Lebanese Economic Forum, representatives of ESCWA and Ministry of Economics and a host of judges, businessmen and journalists.
 
According to the agreement, the two parties will cooperate in various fields especially in investment, Intellectual Property (IP) registration services in addition to others.
 
Mr. Choucair said:"As per the policy of the CCIA-BML in raising the level of services to cope with the latest global standards, we take today another step forward in the right direction. CCIA-BML is happy to sign the MoU with TAG-Org due to the excellent professional reputation it has in Lebanon and the rest of the world. TAG-Org operates out of 83 offices in all major cities in the Arab world, Africa, India, China and the USA in addition to 180 representative offices around the world."
 
According to Choucair this MoU will contribute in expanding the services in the field of IP, trademark and copyrights in addition to auditing, translation and consultancy. He stressed that the CCIA-BML will work tirelessly in providing the best services for the private sector and the economy.
 
HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said:"We are really proud to cooperate with the CCIA-BML whom we share with the same vision and goals. This agreement will have positive results in developing the investment and business environment of the global market and it is considered a great achievement for both in these hard times which the region is facing. Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh pointed out that TAG-Org through its 81 offices and 180 representative offices around the world has made excellent development in various fields especially in the services sector such as Intellectual Property field. It’s worth noting that Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Dispute Resolution Center is the first and largest private provider of negotiation, conflict management (prevention and resolution), and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services in the Arab region, with emphasis on social matters and public disputes.
 
 He also stressed on the fact that TAG-Org is the first in the Arab world that launched TAGI-UNI, the global virtual corporate university established to take e-education to the next level.
 
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh suggested forming a joint team representing TAG-Org and the CCIA-BML to register and protect Lebanese trademarks which have historical value pointing out that there are many Lebanese trademarks that were stolen by the Israeli enemy and sold as if they are Israeli trademarks "We need to draft a law in this regard to protect our trademarks through international laws."
 
He also suggested developing the CCIA-BML website and to form a committee with the ESCWA regarding knowledge trade and present it to CCIA-BML in order to be the first in marketing this type of trade.
 
It is worth mentioning that TAG-Org was placed in the list of  the100 Most Influential Companies in the region according to Forbes.
 
The Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon (CCIA-BML) is a non-profit private organization working for the public benefit. The CCIA-BML was established in 1898 and is the largest of the four Lebanese Chambers that are regulated by Ministerial Decree No 36/67 enacted in 1967.
