Procrastination of Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) in the Implementation of the Court's Verdict to Compensate Abu-Ghazaleh Costs GAM JD2,000 of Daily Interest Entailing Inability to Pay Employees Salaries

11 Dec 2012

AMMAN------December 11, 2012-------The Media Department at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) would like to outline that after the Ruling of seizure against Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) property and its movable and immovable assets, GAM is still procrastinating in the implementation of the Court's decision for compensation, despite the fact that banks have carried out the contents of the Judicial Enforcement Department’s instructions to impose an attachment on the monies of the sentenced party.

The Media Department expresses its surprise of such procrastination and silence by the GAM officials and their failure to respond by implementing the court's decision, entailing a waste of public monies as a result of sustaining huge amounts in the form of daily delay interest at a rate of 9% of the awarded amount which is equivalent to two thousand Jordanian dinars a day (JD2000) starting 27/06/2012. Moreover, such an attachment may disrupt the payment of GAM staff salaries.

In light of such procrastination, we would like to announce that we have started attachment procedures on vehicles and cars belonging to GAM which are legally attachable out of about 2019 vehicles owned by GAM.
We also announce that an attachment is being levied on the lands and real estates registered in the name of GAM which we are surveying and which may be legally attached under the applicable law to maintain the implementation on all assets in order to recover our rights in accordance with the law and regulations and as a confirmation of the rule of law in the state of law.
