ICANN Adds Working Session on Single-Character Domain Names to its Meeting Schedule

MARINA DEL REY, CA – The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced in a press release that it has added an open Working Session on Single-Character Second-Level Domain Names to the schedule on November 5, 2008.

Several gTLD registries have submitted requests to ICANN on the allocation of single-character second-level domain names in their respective gTLDs, including DotCoop, dotMobi and NeuStar Inc. (.BIZ). More information on these requests can be found at www.icann.org/en/registries/rsep/.

In addition, in June 2008, ICANN solicited public comment on a Single-Character Second-Level Domain Name Allocation Framework document.

Participants attending the 33rd International Public ICANN meeting in Cairo, Egypt are welcome to attend this working session.
