WIPO and ASIP Hold “Copyrights and Related Rights” Course in Bahrain
27 Feb 2007 MANAMA --- February 27, 2007 --- The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Arab Society for Intellectual Property (ASIP) in cooperation with Bahrain’s Ministry of Information are organizing the “Copyrights and Related Rights” course March 19-29, 2007 in Manama/Bahrain.
This course is the third in a four-course program entitled the Arab Certified Intellectual Property Practitioner (ACIPP) offered by ASIP. Each course deals with a major discipline of the Intellectual Property (IP) field.
ACIPP is a professional Arabic program offering advanced teaching and training for Arab practitioners. It aims at providing an easier understanding of modern principles that govern IP, as well as access to knowledge and international developments, so that the practitioner may be able to provide his/her services in line with international standards.
ACIPP’s four courses are: Introduction to Intellectual Property, Trademarks and Unfair Competition, Copyrights and Related Rights, and Patents of Inventions and Trade Secrets.
During the “Copyrights and Related Rights” course, participants will be introduced to different terminologies such as; Protected Works, Unprotected Works, and Ownership and Rights Conferred. In addition, they will be provided with practical training on various case studies.
“This cooperation is part of ASIP’s plan to launch the ACIPP program in the Arab region where the Kingdom of Bahrain is the first country to organize such a course under the supervision of high quality academics and experts,” ASIP Manager Mu’tasem Dmour pointed out.
ASIP is a specialized Arab professional body with a main objective to enhance and develop the protection of IP system through various means of awareness and education.
