AGIP Participates in INTA Leadership Meeting

BOCA RATON, FLORIDA - The Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) participated in the International Trademark Association (INTA) Leadership Meeting 2008 in Boca Raton, Florida, November 12-15, 2008.

A press release by AGIP stated that the event was the ideal avenue for more than one thousand INTA leaders to meet with members of the Board of Directors, past presidents and counsels, committee chairs and vice chairs, sub-committee chairs, committee members and project team members gathered to discuss the latest updates in the trademark field.

AGIP Executive Director Charles Sha’ban and AGIP Renewals Executive Director Mahmoud A. Lattouf took part in the event which tackled many issues head-on from litigation techniques to mediation, human rights to ethical considerations, cutting off counterfeiting to in-house / outside counsel dynamics.

The Leadership Meeting designed to provide INTA leaders with the latest information on the hottest topics; advice on leadership techniques equipped INTA committee members and leaders with valuable knowledge.

During the venue, Sha’ban attended the Bulletin Committee meeting; while Lattouf took part in the meetings of the Internet and Roundtables Committees.

“The INTA Meeting consisted of valuable sessions where participants, trademark owners and prosecutors had the opportunity to share and know more information about the latest updates in trademark field,” Sha’ban said.
“It has also been the ideal opportunity to exchange ideas, conduct important business and network with colleagues from around the world, and meet our clients and discuss mutual issues and future cooperation,” he added.
Sessions held during the Meeting also shed light on multinational infringement actions, the new frontier of trademarks as human rights, and fighting counterfeits by, among other methods, seizing the assets of counterfeiters.

The program, available exclusively to INTA's leadership, also focused on the future of mediation, the thorny issues surrounding the use of trademarks on the Internet, the nuts and bolts of effective interplay between inside and outside counsel, and the ethical considerations faced by practitioners when clearing marks in different regions.
The 2009 INTA Leadership Meeting will be held in Miami Beach, Florida, USA at the Lowes Hotel-Miami Beach, November 11-14, 2009.
