‘Abu-Ghazaleh-Confucius Institute’ Holds Chinese Culture Festival and ‘Confucius Institute Day’ at AlRai Schools
20 Nov 2024AMMAN – Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute (TAG-Confucius), a member of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), in cooperation with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAG-KF) has organized the ‘Chinese Culture Festival’ and the ‘Confucius Institute Day’ at AlRai Schools in Amman.
The ceremony was inaugurated by Dr. Mohammed Abu Amara, Schools general manager, Mr. Mamoun Abu Al-Sebaa, director of TAG-Confucius, and Mr. Bader Foqaha, TAG-KF manager, in the presence of over 200 participants in various activities, including the Institute’s teachers, students, and School staff.
During the ceremony, Dr. Abu Amara praised the long relationship between TAG.Global and AlRai and Kingston Schools, highlighting their successful collaboration through workshops and training programs offered by TAG.Global in various domains.
He went on to emphasize the importance of cultural exchange, indicating that this special cultural day aimed to introduce students to Chinese culture, its traditions, popular dishes, and traditional costumes, while also showcasing Jordanian culture through students’ presentations of Jordanian traditional costumes and heritage.
For his part, Mr. Abu Al-Sebaa expressed his gratitude to AlRai Schools, represented by its manager, teachers and students, for their warm welcome and excellent organization of this special cultural day.
He further affirmed the significant role of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, TAG.Global founder and chairman, who firmly believes in China’s global impact across different fields, and who supports the promotion of Chinese culture in Jordan as well as effectively contributes to strengthening the Arab-Sino relations.
Mr. Abu Al-Sebaa further pointed out that one of the most prominent achievements of Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh in China was the establishment of the first operational offices for TAG.Global; as the only non-Chinese company since 2003.
Mr. Abu Al-Sebaa expressed TAG-Confucius’s objective to introduce the Chinese language into Jordan’s educational curriculum in the near future, considering it the language of the future, business, industry and technology. He also expressed hopes that AlRai and Kingstone Schools would take the lead adopting the Chinese language as one of the main languages in their curriculum, alongside Arabic and English.
It is worth mentioning that the ceremony included a range of Chinese cultural activities such as tea ceremony, paper-cutting, traditional Chinese puzzle games, Chinese calligraphy, and traditional Chinese costumes. Ms. Randa Al-Yabroudi, from TAG-Confucius, presented the Chinese tea ceremony, highlighting its significance to Chinese culture. At the same time, Teacher Guan Xia showed the traditional Chinese paper-cutting art, guiding students to create beautiful and attractive patterns with scissors.
TAG-Confucius Teacher Sheng Guannan introduced participants to the Chinese calligraphy, writing their names on cards in Chinese characters. The traditional Chinese costumes were also eye-catching which gave students the opportunity to try them on and take photos.
For her part, Dr. Yang Songfang explained to the students the cultural spirit and aesthetic ideas contained in the costumes of different regions in China, displaying the deep cultural heritage embedded in these garments.
Additionally, Dr. Songfang emphasized that the event aimed to provide students with an opportunity to broaden their horizons, ignite their interest, and explore the enchantment of diverse languages and cultures. She also highlighted that TAG-Confucius will continue to implement cultural exchange initiatives in schools and local communities to further strengthen such cooperation between China and Jordan in the future.
