01 Sep 2008 What we provide is part of our social responsibility – Abu- GhazalehAMMAN September 1, 2008 ,A cooperation agreement was signed today at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business (TAG-College) between Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The agreement was signed in the presence of Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, TAG-Org chairman, and under his sponsorship. The said agreement stipulates for providing a donation to equip and commission a facility for e-training in the Community Development Center in Gaza refugee camp in Jerash/Jordan.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Pascal Deleu, the field administration officer of UNRWA - Amman and Mr. Qais El Khalafat, the executive director of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Academies.
Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his pleasure with this achievement since it contributes to the qualification of young people in learning how to master computer and language skills, which are deemed basic requirements for the labor market. He stressed that whatever is provided by the Organization in this area is part of its social responsibility towards society.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be part of this project which I consider it to be my duty to assist the Palestinians who are under siege,” Abu-Ghazaleh said.
“This is only the start and I hope this project will move to other Palestinians living in other refugee camps,” he added.
“Palestinians are living in the most difficult situations and this project will give them hope to move on. This is just the start and we want to make it work,” Deleu said.
The newly established facility will work on qualifying the young participants of the refugee camp to obtain the Abu-Ghazaleh Cambridge IT Skills Certificate, and conduct a training program that consists of subjects such as Introduction to Information Technology, Word Processing using MS Word, Presentations using MS PowerPoint and others.
The Community Development Center will also offer English language skills and other training courses, and will be operated under UNRWA’s supervision.
The Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization shall provide computers, equipment, tools and necessary furniture, in addition to facilitating discounted prices for both training and examinations offered by the Center.
Moreover, the Organization shall hold training courses at no cost for the Center’s taskforce and shall qualify trainees from the Gaza camp to become certified instructors for teaching the Abu-Ghazaleh Cambridge curriculum.
Meanwhile, Mr. Khalafat said that this Center is the second joint venture of its kind launched by the Organization this year, with the first being the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Society which provides free of charge services for higher education students.
He added that both centers are non-profit initiatives that aim at training young people in various educational and professional fields.
It is noteworthy that Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization has signed an exclusive agreement with the University of Cambridge International Examinations to establish licensed training centers in all Arab countries.
