Abu-Ghazaleh welcomes new head of US mission and hands her a message to the US president

13 May 2019 Amman- His Excellency Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh received in his office, HE Ms. Karen Sasahari, the new Chargé d'affaires of the United States of America in Jordan, on the occasion of her appointment.

Abu Ghazaleh welcomed the guest, pointing out his friendship with the previous US Embassy diplomatic officials and stressed his desire to continue the cooperation to achieve the Jordanian national interest.

For her part, the head of the US mission to Jordan stressed the interest of the United States in supporting the Jordanian economy, pointing out the contributions of the USAID and the important economic and technical assistance provided by America to Jordan in the past.  Additionally, HE Ms. Sasahari praised the official relationship between the two countries and the importance of the United States of America’s interest in Jordan's stability and prosperity.

Abu-Ghazaleh took the opportunity to convey a letter addressed to the American president on the issue of global warming from a humanitarian perspective, away from economic and political considerations, as this danger threatens humanity and does not distinguish between countries or people.

In his letter, Abu-Ghazaleh proposed technical solutions to address this imminent danger, hoping that his message will be read due to the United States of America’s leading position in the world.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Abu Ghazaleh sent a similar letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, accompanied by a report he was commissioned to prepare  in his capacity as Chairman of the team responsible for the preparation of international accounting standards for environmental responsibility by the then Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Dr. Abu-Ghazalel’s chairmanship of the team was also due to his chairmanships at the time of the UN Intergovernmental Working Group of Experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting (UN ISAR) and several boards of international related organizations.
