The Jordanian National Orchestra Association presents the Jordanian- Hungarian Friendship Concert held under the Patronage of HE Mr. Csaba Czibere, Ambassador of Hungary to Jordan and HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh at Al Hussein Cultural Center
28 Sep 2017The special concert, conducted by Mohammad Sidiq, will introduce world renowned Hungarian violinist Katica Illényi to the Jordanian audience.
Born in Budapest, Hungary, Katica was raised in a family of classical musicians. Her first teacher was her father Ferenc Illényi (1935-2007), who played in the Hungarian State Opera House. From the very beginning of her career, Katica played many operetta and musical roles, but always remained faithful to the violin. In addition to classical music, she trained herself in various genres such as jazz, swing and world music and discovered the uniqueness of the genres that she had not been familiarized with through classical music. From 1995 to 2001, she was a member of the Budapest Klezmer Band as a singer and violinist. They travelled around Europe and the United States and released five albums together.
On March 13th 2015, Katica Illényi was awarded the Artist of Merit as one of the most versatile artists of Hungary and was presented with the award by Zoltán Balog Minister of Human Resources and Péter Hoppal Secretary of State for Culture. Recipients of this award are outstanding artists with wonderful artistic values who are established in the field of Hungarian national culture, and who already possess an award donated by the minister for culture. Katica Illényi is an outstanding personality in the national music scene.
