Abu-Ghazaleh: JOrchestra Concert on Al-Nakba day May 15

15 May 2016

AMMAN - May 15, 2016 - The Jordanian National Orchestra Association (JOrchestra), chaired by HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, organizes a special concert on the occasion of the 68th Anniversary of the 1948 Nakba, on May 15th 2016 at the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum − Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University.

HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh indicated that this concert comes as a reminder of the 68th Nakba, adding that a variety of songs and poems by the great Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish will be performed to reflect this painful anniversary for Arab Muslims and Christians, after the forced ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from their homeland; scattering them all over the world.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh added that the ceremony comes to deliver a special salute to the Palestinians who continue to defend their land.

The “Nakba Commemoration” concert will prese traditional Arabic tunes and a variety of songs performed by the National Music Conservatory Arabic Ensemble to be performed by Natalie Samaan and Beesan Kamal, including: “Kamanjat”, “Ajmal hob”, “Ahenu ila khobzi umi”, “Amuru bismiki”, “Ini khtartuka ya watani”, “Jawaz El Safar”, “Takabbar” and “Bayn rita wa Oyooni”; and the recitation of poems including: “Asheq min falasteen”, “Ala hathihil ard”, “Sajjel ana arabi”, “Ana min hunak” and “La oreedo lihathihi alqaseeda an tantahi”.

Al Nakba is marked by Palestinians throughout the world annually every 15th of May, where approximately 750,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homeland where they lived for thousands of years.

The Jordanian National Orchestra Association (JOrchestra) is a non-profit organization, which was launched in 2014 as an initiative between Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh and King Hussein Foundation’s National Music Conservatory to fulfill HM Queen Noor Al-Hussein’s vision of music being an integral part of Jordan’s heritage and one that contributes towards promoting Jordan’s cultural identity.
