AMMAN-----November 1, 2011------- Upon an invitation by the Lebanese Community Committee in Jordan, HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) tackled the Global Economy and Arab Spring in a lecture held at the Lebanese Embassy headquarters in Amman.
The lecture which was attended by HE Ambassador Charbel Aoun and a host of intellectuals and individuals representing the Lebanese and Jordanian communities discussed in details the global economy and what the Arab region is witnessing on this day.
According to Abu-Ghazaleh, the Arab region is witnessing an Arab renaissance and not an Arab Spring saying:"Our loss in the Arab region due to sufferings will be less than in Europe during the period which preceded the boom because we live in a revolution of information technology and communications and the Arab economy will be much stronger due to renaissance meanwhile we will still face problems from External and other internal powers."
HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh pointed out that "What is called 'Israel' has been planning plots for 30 years to disperse the communities and divide the region to make it easy to control. The Jews are aware that America's influence here is for a limited period and are aware of the growing voices in America, which calls for reducing aid "to Israel" and every time the deficit grows in the US; America will reduce its aid to them."
"We will face attempts by the external powers to interfere in our renaissance but we will able to triumph because of our history and our culture gives us the strength to survive," he added.
Abu-Ghazaleh wondered if we are in a new Middle East and whether the fall of the regimes in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya and others is beneficial to the US and according to Abu-Ghazaleh "It is not."
HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh discussed the role of youth in the transformation to renaissance assuring their knowledge will not be affected by a speech because they have the ability to analyze and understand.
"This revolution will end in the coming years and we will move to a transitional stage and come out as a democratic Arab society who believe in reforms, rights, respect for citizens, and then prosperity," he said.
"To know what is happening in the Arab world we have to watch and study what is happening in Egypt, which determine the march of the Arab Renaissance and the history and geography dictates us. The bad situation the Arab nation experienced in previous years was caused by the regime in Egypt, however, good is approaching and will come from Egypt, which is the key driver negatively and positively, and if we watched what happened after the revolution in Egypt, we can see that there is a dramatic change in the work environment and we have experience there in the freedom to work, healthy competition and there will be optimism," he added.
"We are talking about a future that will change the region and affects the world cause the importance of the Arab region is vital and reports by study centers show that wealth move from west to east and from the north to the south. Our confidence in ourselves will give us the ability and power to win in this transitional phase. The battle is hard from the inside and outside and we are a nation; the West tried to weaken it with all possible ways," he concluded.
