Abu-Ghazaleh Chairs the Judging Panel of Hult Prize at the University of Jordan

AMMAN -  December 22, 2015 - HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), chaired the judging panel of Hult Prize hosted by the University of Jordan this year at the Faculty of Business. The final qualifying phase will be held in the United States and will be chaired by the former president of USA, Mr. Bill Clinton.

In the meeting of final qualification for Jordan held at the University in presence of the representative of University President Khlaif Al-Tarawneh and Vice President Musa Al-Lozi, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh assured that creativity is the right way to wealth-making and it is the future; accordingly, future is only for knowledge creativity.

Addressing students, he added "Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) has occupied the first rank in the world due to its choice to be digital. Complete operation using ICT technology made AGIP advantageous over other companies."

He indicated "the UN decided to launch partnership with the international community of business represented by TAG-Org as we currently chair Network Eleven which was launched recently in Barcelona. Network Eleven aims at realizing future sustainability in solving many problems to live in better places, environment and conditions which relates to the objective of the Prize we are meeting here for.” He also stressed the necessity to permanently look for the best solutions all over the world through IT.

He illustrated that the world, while developing, goes through several stages; thus we moved from the stage of IT into the stage of knowledge and will move into the stage of wisdom in which man will think of what is useful not profitable.

He explained that, at the end of this century, it is expected machines will control the world; the fact that led Cambridge University to form a team in order to conclude the project of how to outstrip the control of machines over man.

Regarding the problem of human settlements, he explained that it is the problem of the world and will never end as population is continuously increasing while the capacity is limited. He also added that projects of students in the IT field are the target as they are the innovators and thinkers.

He thanked the University and all parties in charge of the prize for choosing him to chair the Judging Panel. He also expressed his deep gratitude to the students who made the arrangements of the ceremony and to the management of the University that provided all the necessary facilities which prove the great interest in the youth and their capabilities to realize success and excellence.

Dr. Zu’bi Al-Zu’bi, Dean of the Faculty of Business at the University of Jordan, welcomed, in his turn, the guests of qualification stage ceremony, specifically Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh and members of the Judging Panel. He added that the Faculty celebrates hosting this Prize which was launched by an initiative of the former president of the United States Bill Clinton. He added that this Prize targets the University students to produce the best innovative ideas concerning solving the problems from which the whole world is suffering.

He explained that this competition is arranged at the level of Jordan to compete with the projects of other Arab countries in Dubai and then to compete for the grand prize in the United States of America.

The $one million Prize aims at enhancing entrepreneurships and innovation to be supported and brought to reality. This financial prize will translate the most innovative ideas into actual reality changing the world to the best.

This year competition concentrates on finding out solutions for the overcrowded regions and cities through income generating projects.
