A Twinning Agreement Signed between Amman and Ma'an to Cooperate and Exchange Expertise
09 Dec 2015AMMAN - December 9, 2015 - Under the patronage of the Jordanian Prime Minister HE Abdullah Ensour and organized by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), A twinning agreement was inked between Greater Amman Municipality (GAM (and Ma'an Greater Municipality (MGM( in the presence of Mayor of Amman HE Mr. Aqel Biltaji and Maan Mayor HE Mr. Majed Sharari.
As a representative of the Prime Minister, Minister of Municipalities HE Eng. Waleed Al-Masri conveyed the greetings of the Prime Minister and stated that Amman is the mother of Jordanian cities and deserves all the appreciation for embracing all the municipalities of the Kingdom.
He thanked Amman Mayor Mr. Biltaji and Maan Mayor Mr. Sharari for taking this innovative initiative that aims at serving the local community. He pointed out that such initiative cement the way between our cities and other Jordanian cities.
He stressed “this agreement refers to the importance of the social role played by TAG-Org and the private institutions to provide municipalities, different official institutions and the civil society with social services.
HE Dr Talal Abu-Ghazaleh stated “this agreement involves two parts: what has been previously agreed upon and what is under study and development. It will be submitted to the government; having the authority to approve it. It only includes suggestions and their implementation depends on a decision of the government.
He stressed “most of the suggestions are inspired by the directions of His Majesty King Abdullah II”, pointing out to that the next year is the centennial celebration of the Great Arab Revolt which broke out from Ma'an. “We will make it a special year for Ma'an by achieving what it deserves of love, cooperation and welfare under the auspices and the guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah II, May God Bless Him,” he added.
In his turn, Amman Mayor Mr. Beltaji said “we are here today to express our loyalty to Ma'an and go back to the South where the Great Arab Revolt began.”
He added: “It is time to embody that by signing the agreement through this social economic event that establishes the principal of the social responsibility undertaken by Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh”.
Meanwhile, Sharari said: “The twinning idea came through a vision coordinated by TAG-Org. It clearly reflects that we all, in Jordan of King Abdullah, are of one fabric. The twinning translates the concepts of giving and the good behavior that can be achieved by the cooperation among national Jordanian institutions that care about our homeland and citizens.”
He also stated that the twinning was first drawn by King Abdullah, the founder of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
He also said: “the big projects whose raw materials, infrastructure and manpower are in the Ma'an Governorate ready to help our beloved capital breaking the difficulties for the success of any projects that serve the municipality. Amman success and prosperity is a duty and a commitment of every loyal Jordanian. This agreement provides for that both sides must seek to cooperate and exchange experiences in all tasks of the local administration. They also must determine the steps and the procedures that may be implemented under the twinning decision between GAM and MGM in many fields. These fields include the strategic planning, organizational excellence, international awards, architectural heritage management, sharing experiences and knowledge concerning youth and sport activities and programs, exchange of visits in addition to any other matters required by the public interest and that benefit the citizens of both cities.
Through the event that was attended by many notables of Ma'an, Ma'an Folk Art Group performed songs and the folkloric dabkeh.
