Abu-Ghazaleh offers TAG-Org’s Expertise in Service of the Literacy Decade in the Arab World

AMMAN---- December 2, 2014-------- HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of Talal Abu- Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and Dr. Majda Zaki, Director of Education and Scientific Research Sector of Social Affairs at the League of Arab States discussed the mechanism of TAG-Org's involvement in developing future plans of the 10-year project on Literacy Decade in the Arab world that will be held at the Arab League’s Headquarters in Cairo mid January of next year.

HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh indicated that such plans come as an implementation to the resolutions of the Arab leaders to endorse the decade and embark on serious efforts to eliminate literacy in their respective countries in accordance with a time plan in line with the decade and to take necessary steps for the development of policies and plans in view of eliminating literacy.
   
HE pointed out that Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Information Technology Program, currently managed in 1500 centers covering the Arab countries, in participation with relevant Arab governments and education institutions, seeks to achieve a knowledge-based Arab community consistent with resolutions of the Arab summits.
 
Meanwhile, Dr. Majda Zaki commended TAG-Org's efforts in eliminating knowledge-literacy through its centers in the Arab countries. She also called for TAG-Org involvement in relevant future plans of the Arab League in this field.

Dr. Abu- Ghazaleh and Egypt’s Ambassador to Jordan, Mr. Khaled Tharwat, discussed the Digital Literacy Project at the level of Egypt and the potentials of utilizing TAG-Org relevant expertise and programs.
 
HE also declared that TAG-Org puts its expertise and capabilities at the disposal of Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of Education to qualify school students with IT skills to be a prerequisite in the future to join the Egyptian universities. He also commended the new constitution of Egypt which allocates an increasing proportion of the budget for education.
 
This comes in light of signing an important protocol between TAG-Org, accredited center of the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) – University of Cambridge, UK, and IT Institute of the Armed Forces in Egypt. The protocol institutes cooperation between both parties in the international diploma program of IT skills.
