'An Evening in Caracas' Lights Up Amman Night, Abu-Ghazaleh Announces 'The Nutcracker' December 15th as a Gift for the Holiday Season

AMMAN----November 9, 2014-------- The Jordanian National Orchestra Association (JOrchestra) and the National Music Conservatory in cooperation with the Venezuelan Embassy in Amman organized 'An Evening in Caracas' concert introducing for the first time the famous Venezuelan conductor Pedro Mauricio Gonzalez Brito at the Jordanian International School.

The evening witnessed a full house with standing ovation by fans who enjoyed the music of world famous conductor leading JOrchestra members and playing Overture to “La Gazza Ladra” (The Thieving Magpie). G. Rossini, Symphony No.36. W. A. Mozart, “Margariteña”. Inocente Carreño in addition to others that reflect the Venezuelan culture.

A host of officials from various diplomatic missions based in Jordan, students and fans of the Venezuelan conductor attended the event which is part of JOrchestra cooperation with various embassies in Jordan to bring and share the culture and music of various countries that have passion for classical music.

In his speech the Ambassador Mr. Fausto Fernandez said: "We are proud to present conductor Pedro Mauricio Gonzalez Brito to play side by side with JOrchestra members. I thank HM Queen Noor and HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh for all their support and effort in reviving JOrchestra. A special thank you for all members of JOrchestra and their fans."

Meanwhile, HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said:" "I say Music cures the spirit just like medicine for the body. I was overwhelmed when I saw another full house filled with Jordanians and Jordan's guests in an exciting evening where each one was enjoying the music with full attention, a phenomena that makes us really proud. I am certain that HM Queen Noor, honorary chair of JOrchestra is excited to see the positive results of her initiative."

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh announced the preparation for the next concert "The Nutcracker" which will be held December 15th as a gift for the holiday season in addition to special program which is also held in Vienna during the Christmas season.

The Nutcracker is a two-act ballet, originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov with a score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (op. 71). The libretto is adapted from E.T.A. Hoffmann's story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.

At the end of the concert, HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh presented JOrchestra Shields to the Ambassador and the Venezuelan conductor thanking them for their effort and support. 

Pedro Mauricio Gonzalez was born in Caracas in 1959, founding member of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Venezuela, first assistant bass and permanent guest director.

Master Composer and Teacher Performer Bass (Grade School of Music in 1990 Lino Gallardo Caracas), Bachelor in Music Orchestral Directing Mention (Grade IUDEM Caracas in 2005), Master of Music (Grade in 2010 Simon Bolivar University), Techniques for Film Music Composition (Grade 2012 Virtual IFIDMA Conservatory, Madrid, Spain). He has served as a guest director of the National Philharmonic Orchestras of Venezuela, Municipal Symphony Orchestra of Caracas, Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, National Typical Orchestra, Mérida State Symphony, Simón Bolívar Symphony of San Cristobal, Symphony of the Plains,Yaracuy Symphony and Grand Marshal of Ayacucho.

He was a guest director at the International Tour 25th Anniversary of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Venezuela in the Oriental Republic of Uruguay (July 2012). He has performed world premieres as Concert for Two Harps of Rodrigo Francisco with Marisela Gonzalez and Evelia Taborda as soloists, Collage "Concert for Flute and Orchestra" with the Municipal Symphony Orchestra of Caracas with Miguel Pineda as a soloist, Incidental Music for the Challenge of Florentino and the Devil (of his works) in Uruguay Tour by the 25th Anniversary of the National Philharmonic Orchestra in addition to others.
