First meeting of ASCA Council

30 Jan 1984
Arab Society: A formal constitution was discussed and agreed at the first full meeting of the new Arab Society of Certified Accountants Council held at Lincoln’s Inn Fields last month.
It was agreed to limit membership to those who have passed examinations set by the Association of Certified Accountants or recognized by it of being of equivalent standard. Exemptions will be made for a short interim period, to allow in Arab accountants of standing and experience.
Membership fees will be high — at least £2,000 for founder members and £200 for those who join later via the examination route. Planned developments include application for membership of the international accounting body IFAC and the appointment of a full-time secretary and technical officer. "We are fulfilling the dreams of generations of Arab accountants," Society President Talal Abu-Ghazaleh told Certified Accountant.
