Minister of Industry Inaugurates ASCA Meetings

AMMAN – The Minister of Industry and Trade, Dr. Jawad Alanani, inaugurated yesterday the third meeting for the Arab Society of Certified Accountants (ASCA), which was attended by the board of directors that is comprised of prominent certified accountants from various Arab countries.
 
ASCA Chairman Talal Abu-Ghazaleh announced that the executive apparatus of the society was formed under the administration of Dr. Issam Marei, the ASCA Secretary General and member of the American Society for Certified Accountants, along with the ex-British ambassador to Lebanon and Algeria, Mr. Ben Strachen.
 
The ASCA board of directors will continue its meetings in Amman for two days, during which it will discuss topics on its business agenda such as technical and administrative arrangements for membership and exams.
 
Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh declared that the Minister of Industry and Trade had notified him of the official recognition of ASCA as a professional scientific institution and offered necessary support, in addition to welcoming the choice of Amman as ASCA headquarters.
 
It is known that ASCA was established in London and was registered officially on January 12, 1984. Its board of directors is made up of Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh as Chairman, Mr. Abdel Majid Almuhandis as Vice-Chair and Treasurer, and Akram Alqadi, Antwan Matar, Saleh Jadallah, Salah Alayouti, Wael Abu Shakra, Abdel Latif Hasan and Murad Qeilati as members.
 
The society is a professional scientific institution that aims to develop the vocation of auditing through establishing specialized academic programs for certified accountants, training these accountants and having them sit for necessary exams, and then qualifying them and monitoring their level of performance.
