International Conference on Accounting Standards
08 Mar 1994Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of the Arab Society of Certified accountants (ASCA) and current Chairman of the U.N. Intergovernmental Working Group of Experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting, is presiding over the group’s annual meeting that will be held during March 7-12 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The agenda for the group’s meetings will include the activities executed by the group in the past period, and the election of the group’s executive members for the year of 1994. Further, the participants will discuss numerous professional topics such as reviewing accounts and evaluating the reports related to companies’ privatization, the standards related to the environment and disclosing them in accounting statements, and the study of grants and governmental assistance accounts.
The participants will also review national and international developments for numerous member-states of the group, particularly in the field of accounting, and the preparation of financial statements.
Joining this event will be representatives of governmental apparatuses in charge of the accounting profession from all nations of the globe.
Abu-Ghazaleh was elected as Chairman of the group during the last meetings that took place in New York in March 1993. At the time, he had chaired the UN conference on accounting education, which was attended by a large number of organizations and officials in the field of accounting worldwide.
