Chairman of ASCA Presides over Accounting Experts Group Meeting

Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of the Arab Society of Certified Accountants (ASCA), and current Chairman of the U.N. Intergovernmental Working Group of Experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting, presided over the group’s annual meeting that convened during March 7-12 in Geneva, Switzerland.
 
At the meetings, the group’s activities of the previous period were discussed, and its executive members for the year 1994 were elected.
 
Also, the participants at the meeting researched a number of vocational topics such as review of accounts, evaluation of reports related to privatization of companies, in addition to standards relating to the environment and disclosing them in financial statements and a study of accounting issues that have to do with scholarships and governmental grants.
 
The attendees also reviewed national and international developments in the group’s member-states, particularly in the field of accounting and financial statements’ preparation. Participating at this session were representatives of governmental apparatuses concerned with the accounting profession from nations worldwide.
