Abu-Ghazaleh to Challenge IFAC
24 Oct 1997The leading accountant in the Arab world, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, will deliver an outspoken warning against the narrowness of global professional vision, resistance to globalization, and will make an urgent call for the need to develop a professional liability model for accountants, when he speaks at the World Congress of Accountants (IFAC) in Paris on October 27.
Abu-Ghazaleh will challenge IFAC to recognize its new role of leadership and advocacy, particularly in the context of the World Trade Organization, on behalf of accountants worldwide, while all standards setting functions in accountancy services should be undertaken by the International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC).
