Ministry of Industry and Trade Begins Implementation of Monitoring and Auditing Procedures Manual
01 Jan 2003AMMAN – As part of the efforts included in the government program for modernizing and developing the public sector's systems, the internal audit and inspection division of the Ministry of Trade and Industry will start the implementation of a Monitoring and Auditing Procedures Manual on January 1, 2003, on the various activities of the Ministry.
The manual aims to incorporate scientific methods and international standards on government control systems and deal with various government cases with transparency while taking into account methods of monitoring and evaluation and enhancing the principle of censorship on the various administrative levels.
The manual was accomplished with the cooperation of Euro-Jordanian project (EJADA) and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh and will be applied on all the Ministry's systems and activities in the space of 8 months with the aim of achieving the strategic goals of the Ministry to provide for government employees working in the field of monitoring and auditing a scientific dimension and an ability to perform their tasks and duties with competency and efficiency at all levels (inspection, measurement, evaluation, analysis and identifying deviations) and in line with the governments plans to develop and enhance performance and monitoring regulations on public money use in the framework of international standards.
A two-day workshop was held for employees of the Monitoring and Auditing division in the Ministry which mainly dealt with practical concepts of the manual and how to use the manual's models, working papers and auditing programs that were developed within the general policy framework of the Ministry which dealt with the overall operational issues of the Ministry.
The accomplishment of the manual in a scientific method and in accordance with renowned auditing standards is a first of its kind initiative to be implemented on a Jordanian government division.
