Chairman of E-Business Commission Participates in Events of Davos Forum
02 Feb 2003Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, in his capacity as Chairman of the Commission on E-Business, Information Technologies and Telecoms affiliated with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and as Chairman of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization, participated in numerous activities and meetings that took place at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Abu-Ghazaleh was among prestigious Arab businessmen and investors representing the Council of Arab Businessmen within the Davos Forum. The Jordanian monarch met with them in Davos, as the king expressed his relief and optimism on the cooperation between Arab businessmen and investors, and said that this represents the future that he’s looking forward to.
In press statements after the meeting, Abu-Ghazaleh said that confidence is the most significant message that Jordan succeeded in conveying to the international community, in addition to the creation of a real partnership between the public and private sectors.
He emphasized the importance of this partnership and the necessity of enhancing it so that its two parties will be on equal footing.
During the forum’s events, Abu-Ghazaleh led the ICC delegation which met with the heads of departments from the World Trade Organization (WTO). Prior to that, he chaired the meetings of the Commission on E-Business, Information Technologies and Telecoms of the ICC, to discuss the projects included in its action plan for 2003, and to study the points that will be discussed with the WTO’s Secretary-General.
On January 26, Abu-Ghazaleh participated in the special meeting for member-businesses at the World Economic Forum during the congregation of business owners for the global digital divide initiative.
Abu-Ghazaleh called for the adoption of the Human Rights Declaration on IT and Communications Needs.
