TAGI Represents West Asia and Africa Region in ICANN Board Elections
16 Mar 2003AMMAN - After the necessary modifications on ICANN [Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers] restructuring began, elections for seat numbers 13 and 14 on the Board of Directors have begun, and will continue till mid-April. Elections will be conducted by the ICANN’s Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO).
The Board comprises of 18 members that represent the following sectors: the Business Commission (BC), Intellectual Property Commission (IPC), Internet Services Providers Commission (ISPC), the Registrars Commission and the Non-Commercial Commission.
Mr. Charles Shaban, the Executive Director of Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP), was elected to represent BC for the West Asia and Africa Region, and so will be casting his vote for the Board of Directors elections.
The first round of elections began March 13, 2003, and will continue till the next ICANN meeting takes place in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil on March 23, 2003 for the election of seat # 14. It will continue till mi-April for seat # 13.
